21st Annual Event Supports Cancer Programs and Services

DANVERS, Mass. (January 4, 2011) – North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) has named Jason Maxwell, President of MassPay, to its Steering Committee for the 2011 North Shore Cancer WALK. Maxwell, a longtime supporter of the WALK, is committed to helping grow the event so the much needed funds will continue to provide cancer center patients and their families with support programs and services at the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center.

The Steering Committee, now in its second year, will focus on increasing awareness for the walk and continuing to improve fundraising initiatives.

“We are thrilled to have Jason join our team,” said Roselyn Fisher, Special Events Manager at the NSMC. “His passion is contagious; he is determined to do whatever it takes to make a real difference. We look forward to hearing his ideas and benefiting from his energy.”

Last month, Maxwell and his team at MassPay, headquartered in Beverly, hosted the first-ever Fed Up With Cancer charity event that raised $12,000 for the North Shore Cancer WALK and drew more than 300 people to the Danversport Yacht Club for food, live music and a silent auction.

“I’m excited to be a part of the team that will help guide the growth of the WALK,” said Maxwell. “Cancer has affected too many people I care about. I want to do what I can to put a stop to this devastating disease. This is a good first step.”
